My mother, Margaretha, was born at home in Villeria, Pretoria, the second child of Johanna and Ernest Venske. Both were about 22 years old respectively when she was born. Marge had one brother and three stepbrothers.
Named the 'Rose Queen' and the 'Guava Queen',Marge was a beautiful young lady and married Johannes Jurgens (John) Schoeman in July 1954. He was a widower and had one son Phillipus (13/09/1945)
Marge and John had three children, Peter is the eldest in June 1957. Next came Joanne in April 1960 and last but not least by any means, Thys in September 1965. All three children were born in Natal.
John passed away on the 19th December 1965. She left the farm in Middelrus and moved to Durban. Here she lived on Tongaat beach and then met Chris Tanner whom she married on 20th May, 1967 at the Old Fort Chapel in Durban. This was not to be and they divorced in June 1968.
Marge then met Gordon Wilson, who had a son named Iain, and the whole family moved to 4 Venlet Road, Pretoria. Gordon died in 1985 and Marge was single until her death.
Marge was the last in her family to pass away. She outlived Ernest (Dad), John (1965)(hubbie), Emil (1973)(brother), Johanna(1985)(mom), Arthur (1995)(brother) and Fred (2001)(brother). Her own brother Ernest was blind. (Not sure of the date of passing).
